Announcement from China's Ministry of Commerce.
China will ban all imports of coal, iron, iron ore, lead, lead ore and seafood from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) starting from August 15, announced China's Ministry of Commerce on Monday.
The ban is in accordance with the UN Security Council resolution 2371.
The Resolution 2371, adopted unanimously by the Security Council on August 5, strengthens UN sanctions on the DPRK in response to its two intercontinental ballistic missile tests conducted on July 3 and July 28, respectively.
It is the strongest sanctions ever imposed in response to a ballistic missile test, and these measures target the DPRK's principal exports, with a total ban on all coal, iron, iron ore, lead, lead ore and seafood exports.
